Handyman

By definition a handyman is a person who is employed to do general decorating or domestic repairs. It can be hard to find a great handyman but word-of-mouth recommendations are very popular within the handyman industry.

A handyman does odd jobs & maintenance in your home. A handyman will normally focus on smaller jobs and everyday maintenance from changing light bulbs to installing a new sink, from repairing leaking taps to changing damaged double glazed sealed units. So the skills and experience a handyman or handywoman has will vary greatly.

Find a handyman

A handyman will fix, fit, repair, replace, put up, paint, install and assemble. So how do you find a good handyman?

Well here on JuggleFrogs we have lots of local handymen all across the UK. Use our local search and then our advanced filter to find the right handyman for you. Also you can ask neighbours or local friends and family for recommendations or read handyman recommendations on JuggleFrogs.

Steps to consider when hiring a handyman:

  • Ensure the handyman is reputable - check references
  • Every handyman will have different skills and experience - so check out training, qualifications and experience
  • Remember the cheapest price does not always equal best value and most expensive does not mean best quality
  • Be clear about the work needed - take care to include enough detail in your written job requirement so that each handyman starts with a good understanding of your needs. This is essential if you are to get comparable quotations

Questions to ask a handyman:

  • When can they do the works?
  • How much is it inc VAT?
  • What qualifications have they got?
  • How long have they been in business?
  • If additional costs accrue during works, how will they be calculated?

Be sure to weigh up the benefits of working with one handyman over another handyman. If they offer more experience, or proof that they can do the job you want with the quality of workmanship you require, it might be worth paying those extra few pounds or waiting longer for them to start the works.
