Small kitchens have lots of challenges in terms of design so making use of every space saving trick in the book is a must. If your small kitchen design is carefully planned, your small kitchen can actually be highly efficient.
| Units for small kitchens | Where space is limited fitted layouts are the best solution and the simpler the better |
| Use floor to ceiling cupboards storing lesser-used items in the uppermost cupboards | |
| Fit free standing units on legs reveal more of the floor and add to the feeling of space | |
| Go for a pale finish - light-coloured units make a small kitchen look all the bigger | |
| Incorporating different levels is a good trick as the varying heights add interest and help to avoid a blocky feel | |
| Fix racks to the backs of your cupboard doors | |
| Make space in a small kitchen | Is it possible to move anything - can the laundry appliances go in the garage? |
| Be ruthless and clear any clutter | |
| Appliances for a small kitchen | Buy slim line appliances and if they are integrated it streamlines the space |
| Avoid space hungry appliances and gadgets and restrict your cooking equipment | |
| Lighting for a small kitchen | Use plenty of lighting, for example under the wall units or recessed into glazed cupboards |

One thing to remember when designing the layout is the triangle of Cooker, Sink and Fridge/Freezer. They must not be placed next to each other as these are the three things you use most and you need to be able move between them.

My kitchen is absolutely tiny, and to increase the efficiency of the room, I really need to find units with sliding doors, as I cannot use my cooker properly, and open cupboard doors.
I have searched for kitchen units with sliding doors, but have so far been unsuccessful. Do you know of any suppliers?
I would be very grateful if you could help me to find someone who makes kitchen base units with sliding doors.
