Vegetable gardening

Monday, March 26, 2007

The sun is shinning and lawn mowers are out all across the country - don't you just love the smell of fresh cut grass!

So I thought I would tell you all about a wonderful vegetable book I found last year. During major property renovation gardens often get left until the end but you can get huge rewards if you start things early and even get some fantastic food to bring to the table too.

Our house is in a complete state but the garden had some work done on it by the previous owner so once I spent a few months last year cutting back and weeding in the evenings, I am now able to start a small amount of planting.

"Vegetable gardening" is a great book as it tells you so much information about each vegetable even with some recipe ideas and teaches all about planting vegetable patches from a window box to a full allotment. It's great as a reference and has even helped with my organic vegetable box as occasionally I have found vegetables that I don't know what they are - have u ever heard of a kohlrabi. Well I discovered it last year and mashed with a little bit of olive oil mmmm lovely!
