Bathroom showrooms

Using bathroom design services Monday, August 20, 2007

There are dozens and dozens of bathroom showrooms across the country which have hundreds of products on display and most can help with CAD bathroom design programs.

Regardless of where you get your inspiration and ideas from, you should always take the time to visit bathroom showrooms and look at the fittings 'in the flesh'. This way you can check the quality of the bathroom fixtures and fittings and get a far better picture of what it looks like and how big it is.

Plan for visits to bathroom showrooms

During your visit to a bathroom showroom(s):

  • Bring bathroom floor plan - current and any ideas you have
  • Ask a lot of questions - the companies are there to help
  • Tell staff as much about your current bathroom suite as possible
  • Explore the entire bathroom showroom
  • Always take away copies of brochures so you can look at your leisure
  • Get tile samples if required - if you do this online you may have to pay for these
  • Get an installation quote - is this just fittings or install too?

Many bathroom showrooms offer in-store planning, but advice is generally limited to the layout of basic elements, rather than providing solutions to problems. When buying for your bathroom, take along a plan of the room, with the existing fittings marked, and make sure you know the location and type of water-heating system you have, so that the bathroom showrooms can help you choose the most appropriate fittings.

Planning a new bathroom is complex so it's worth taking the time and effort to get exactly what you want, as for most people you won't be able to rip it out and start again and you want to have a space that's practical and you can enjoy splashing around in.

Bathroom showrooms and stores

Depending on your budget there are loads of options. Firstly, use our Bathroom Ideas Gallery to help find the bathroom you are looking for. It allows you to filter by style, colour, price and so on to give you ideas for the kind of bathroom you want. It's time to ditch the scrap book and will save your legs with a few less trips to bathroom showrooms!

Top tips for bathroom shopping

  • Make sure you know what you want. Spend time researching advice and ideas for bathroom design and style - the more you prepare the happier you are likely to be with the end result
  • Measure your space and take all details with you when you shop
  • Document any questions you have so you are well prepared when talking to designers. Some of them will play hardball so you need to be ready
  • If you go for end-of-line products be prepared to compromise... And make sure you check for any damage
  • If they won't budge on price they are more likely to throw in some extras e.g. upgrade your taps
  • Above all it's a big decision so don't let any bathroom showrooms rush you into buying a bargain

Good luck - and if you need any help with finding bathroom showrooms, bathroom ideas of anything bathroom related - then get in touch.
