Which fridge do you think you need? One way to decide is to look at your normal shopping contents. Do you need a fridge with an egg rack because you use lots of eggs and need to get to them easily? What about a fridge with a salad drawer or wine shelf?
Remember that glass shelves, although more expensive than wire racks, will stop any dripping bottles from ruining other foods in your fridge.
An ordinary fridge with a small freezer compartment allows you to keep frozen food for a limited period of time, depending on the rating of the fridge. If you need to freeze larger amounts of fresh food you need a freezer or a fridge freezer.
Fridge design options
Corner fridges are worth a look for awkward spaces and are huge!
Drawer appliances are all the rage be it freezer or fridge.
What do the stars mean on freezers?
The stars in freezers indicate the temperature of the compartment and therefore the length of time that food may safely be stored within:
* One star (-6 degrees centigrade)
Perfect for making ice cubes and is sufficiently cold to keep food for three or four days
** Two stars (-12 degrees centigrade)
Stores food for fifteen to twenty days
*** Three stars (-18 degrees centigrade)
Will keep food safe for up to three months
**** Four stars (below 18 degrees centigrade)
Means that the compartment provides the ideal conditions for freezing down fresh and pre-cooked foods
